As I have been preparing for the sermon series “Becoming a Courageous Family,” I have reacquainted myself with old articles I had filed away.  As high school seniors all over the country are graduating this month, I thought the following piece was a good reminder on how perspective changes as we get older.  With Father’s Day coming in a few weeks this carries a double message.

How children see their fathers at different ages in life is quite interesting.
At four years… MY DADDY CAN DO ANYTHING!
At seven…MY DAD KNOWS A LOT!
At nine…DAD DOESN’T KNOW QUITE EVERYTHING!
At twelve…DAD JUST DOESN’T UNDERSTAND!
At fifteen…DAD IS OLD FASHIONED!
At twenty-one…THAT MAN IS OUT OF TOUCH!
At twenty-five…DAD’S OKAY
At thirty…I WONDER WHAT DAD THINKS ABOUT THIS!
At thirty-five…I MUST GET DAD’S INPUT FIRST!
At fifty… WHAT WOULD DAD HAVE THOUGHT ABOUT THAT?
At sixty…I WISH I COULD TALK IT OVER WITH DAD ONCE MORE!

This Sunday I will be sharing “Words of EnCcourage-ment for Teenagers.”  If you or friends have teens or young adults, you won’t want to miss the valuable life lessons I will be sharing to ensure their success in life now and for eternity.
See you Sunday,
Pastor Jeff
