He Who Has an Ear, Let Him Hear

There will be terrible times in the last days.  People will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, boastful, proud, abusive, disobedient to their parents, ungrateful, unholy, without love, unforgiving, slanderous, without self-control, brutal, not lovers of the good, treacherous, rash, conceited, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God— having a form of godliness but denying its power.

--2 Timothy 3:1-5

How prophetic are Paul's words for our day?  Never before in the history of man have all these adjectives described the current state of mankind.  Man's condition plus the increase in extreme climate and natural disasters only points to one thing...the coming of Christ.  The birth pains of the end of time which Jesus spoke of in Matthew 24 are coming closer together.  Sure, there have always been climate extremes and natural disasters.  However, in the past the state of man has had a level of godly fear and respect.  Where is the fear of God today?  We don't see it in our schools, government, media, or the majority of people's actions with each other.  Even many of those claiming the name of Christ hold to a form of godliness, but show no signs of spiritual power in their lives.

Jesus said the day and the hour of his return are known only to Almighty God.  However, he did give us the signs that will precede his coming.  We need to take an honest soul-searching look at the happenings in the world we live in.  The seven churches of Revelation implore us that, "he who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says..."  May we have holy and alert eyes and ears in these days.
