Are You Connected?

Some of us remember when personal computers were in their infancy. I remember our church's first experience with a computer in the early nineties. I could start it up and then literally read the newspaper while I was waiting for the screen to start up. The internet was like a snail, but no one cared because it couldn't go faster. Today’s computers are smaller and so fast that if they hesitate for more than three seconds, we are trying to figure out what’s gone wrong. Even with wireless systems we expect there to be no connection problems. All of us hate the dreaded "diagnosing connection problems" screen. We know we can't get to where we want on the internet without a  proper connection. If a connection is weak or slow, it adds to our frustration because we can't get where we want to go on the cyber highway.

This reminds me of the necessity in our spiritual lives to be firmly connected to the Lord if we are going to find real success in life. Jesus reminds us in John 15 that if we aren't totally connected to Him, we can do nothing. We cannot succeeded in all that God wants us to be if we don't stay properly connected to him daily.

This Sunday we will continue our series on "Discovering Your God-Given Potential." We will explore the absolute necessity of abiding in Christ to abound in your life.

Connecting with you,
Pastor White
