In a Peanuts cartoon some years back, Lucy comes to Charlie Brown and says, "Merry Christmas. Since it's this time of year, I think we ought to bury past differences and try to be kind." Charlie Brown asks, "Why does it have to be this time of the year? Why can't it be all year long?" Lucy looks at him and says, "What are you? Some kind of fanatic?"
We all think it would be wonderful if the Christmas spirit could last all year. However, it will be business as usual come December 26. On the other hand, can it be business as usual after we have experienced Christmas? Do you think it was business as usual for the shepherds, wise men, Mary and Joseph after their Christmas experience? Can we really go back to our routines unchanged after we have worshipped and pondered the true meaning of Christmas in our lives?
Come see us Sunday. We will talk about that.
