Pinocchio Christians?

In the Walt Disney classic movie Pinocchio, a wooden puppet turns into a real boy and begins an adventure learning about the good and evil in the world around him.  One valuable lesson he learns is that of telling the truth and the consequences of lying.  Click the picture to the left to see what happened.  We need to thank God he doesn't cause our nose to grow every time we give a false testimony or lie.  We would be banging noses all over the place.

Why do people lie to and about each other?  One reason is malice, a premeditated attempt to destroy someone's reputation.   Another reason is pride.  We don't want others to perceive us in a bad light.  Whether by malice or pride, the tactics are the same:  gossip, slander, judging, and criticism to name a few.  The results are always the same--destruction of someone's integrity.

Psalms 15:1-3 reminds us that we can forfeit eternity due to a lying tongue.  LORD, who may dwell in your sanctuary? Who may live on your holy hill? He whose walk is blameless and who does what is righteous, who speaks the truth from his heart and has no slander on his tongue, who does his neighbor no wrong and casts no slur on his fellowman.”

There won't be any Pinocchio Christians in heaven.  Neither should there be any on earth.

Come see us Sunday.  We will talk about that.
