The Foundation of Prayer

Why is it that although we are encouraged to do a particular act according to scripture, we are shown by Christ's example it was important, we are given a pattern of how to do it by Christ, and we have even seen results from it, it can still be so hard to do? I am speaking of prayer. There is no way around the importance of prayer in the life of every believer and congregation. God responds, moves and acts only in response to our prayers. We are reminded time and time again that God's hand moves in response to the prayers of his children. James reminds us "we have not because we ask not." John 16:24 reminds us to ask anything in Jesus' name and we will receive it. Jesus said in Matthew 7:7 "Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you." All this happens through prayer.
Sunday we will explore the value of prayer as a foundational truth we must stand upon as Christians and as God's church. We'll explore three major benefits of prayer from the Lord's Prayer found in Matthew 6 and how you can apply them to your life.

I look forward to seeing you Sunday,
Pastor Jeff
